So what’s the relationship between wavelength and frequency?

Imagine you and a friend are walking across a bridge side by side at the same speed. Your friend has long legs and a long stride.  You have a short stride, so you take lots of steps. 

The longer the stride, the fewer steps; the shorter the stride, the more steps. This relationship between stride and steps is an inverse relationship.

Frequency and wavelength also have an inverse relationship. The length of the stride is like the wavelength; the number of steps is like the frequency. In other words, the longer the wavelength, the lower the frequency. The shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency.
