Using a Calculator

Wrap-up

The next time you go shopping, take along a calculator and compare prices. You always want to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

In this lesson you used a calculator to:
  • Perform basic math functions
  • Calculate percentages
  • Calculate an item’s sale price
  • Calculate deductions in a pay stub
On your own:
  • Read the instructions provided by your calculator to learn more about its functions.
  • Review your own pay stub or the pay stub of a friend or relative.
  • Review your most recent telephone or electric bill to calculate the percentage of tax you pay each month.
  • If you have a credit card, review your latest bill. Check to see your credit card company’s interest rate. Compare it with the interest rates paid by your friends and relatives to see if you’re getting the best deal.
