Good writers always make sure that their subjects and verbs agree.

For example, we say "he eats" and "she eats," but we say “the boys eat.”  Each subject (she, the boys) calls for a different form of the verb "to eat" in the present tense. Note that the verb for "she" and "he" takes an s.
