Welcome to the TV411 Professional Development Tutorial.
TV411 is a multimedia teaching tool (with material
on video, in print, and online) that can enrich
an existing ABE curriculum, inspire new lessons,
and engage students in the learning process.
TV411 video segments, print, and online lessons
can be used separately, but they create the richest
learning experience when used together. If you
are new to TV411 or are unsure of how to use
it in your curriculum, this tutorial can help.
It will provide an overview of TV411 materials,
recommend techniques for using them in your classroom,
and walk you through the process of designing
a lesson.
The tutorial is divided into two parts. Part
1, Overview of TV411 Materials, describes
the video, print, and online components of TV411 in
detail. If you are already familiar with the material,
you can go directly to Part 2, Planning
Your Lesson,
to follow a step-by-step process for creating a lesson
using the TV411 components. Once you have completed
this part, you may feel ready to develop lessons using
TV411 materials on your own.
The tutorial will take you about an hour to complete.
Give it a try! You know your students—their
interests and educational needs—and you've
likely developed successful strategies for teaching
them. TV411 is not a substitute for this knowledge
and practice, but it can greatly enhance both.
