TV411 on Video
TV411, the television show which airs on public television and cable stations nationwide, is the foundation of our curriculum. There are 30 half-hour, magazine-style episodes available on video, each made up of discrete segments, typically 4-5 minutes long. The show features a cast of fictional TV411 characters and a range of real-life authors, artists, athletes, and adult learners, modeling the reading, writing, and math skills they use in real life. For example, a carpenter demonstrates how math and measurements are critical to her work, and poet Jimmy Baca uses poetry to teach critical reading and summarizing skills to students. The series is non-sequential (you can watch the episodes in any order, or watch individual segments) and recursive (we revisit topics in different segments, episodes, and contexts).
