Volume tells you the amount of space an object or a liquid takes up. How do you calculate it? To find the volume of a rectangular object, you can use the formula:
Volume = length × width × height.

Imagine a chicken bouillon cube that is 1cm × 1cm × 1cm.

Using the volume formula:
Volume = length × width × height
Volume = 1cm × 1cm × 1cm
Volume = 1cm³

So the volume of the bouillon cube is 1cm³, or 1 cubic centimeter (cc).

Let’s look at a sugar cube that measures 2cm on each side. What is the volume of the sugar cube that is 2cm long, 2cm high, and 2cm wide? Type your answer (number only) in the box.

cm³
