A "carbon footprint" isn’t a footprint in the sand that gets washed away with the next tide. We put out carbon dioxide into the atmosphere just by doing what we do in our everyday lives, like driving to work, turning on the A/C, and cooking dinner. All that activity contributes to our carbon footprint.

In 2010, how many more tons of CO₂ did each person in the U.S. put out on average compared to the average in France?
