What’s cooking here at TV411? We’ve got a new website with loads of videos and plenty of web lessons. In addition to all our great reading, writing, and math activities, we’ve added a mouth-watering new cooking show where Chef Jamika Pessoa blends science and math with tasty recipes.

I am a big fan of the tv411 website. I am happy to see all the new things on it. My favorite video so far is the one about renting to own in Finance. Please put up more lessons about finance and writing.
I really liked the video of Doug E Fresh reading to the kids. I never knew that he wrote a children's book.
Gracie, I'm glad you liked the new site and the finance videos. We just put up a great writing lesson, How to Write a Poem, based on our work with one of our favorite poets Jimmy Baca. Hope you enjoy it!
Jacob, Doug E Fresh is a man of many talents for sure. You can still buy his children's book, Think Again, online. He also has a fried chicken spot called Doug E's Chicken and Waffles in Harlem, NYC.

Reno, I'm glad to hear you like the site. Any favorite videos or web lessons?
I like the new look and the fact that they are not charging, but there are some problems with some of the online activities' accuracy. I worked through the Fractions Web Lesson and found that the third activity isn't giving the correct responses. http://www.tv411.org/math/fractions-decimals-percentages/whats-fraction/activity/3/1So be sure you preview all the activities and let the people at TV411 know if you find problems. Hopefully they will fix anything that's wrong. It's hard to proof something like this without help. It's a big task. :-)Linda Swanson
TV411 if very responsive in fixing problems. The problem with the Fractions activity I noted previously has already been fixed. Good job!
Linda, as you mentioned, proofing the new site has been a huge task. We work hard to ensure that our online activities support adults in their learning process, so we value any feedback that helps us improve them. I'd be interested to hear how you guys have been using the TV411 materials.
I am very impressed with this website. You have a large variety of subjects to learn from. The videos are very instructional and easy to comprehend. I feel I have found something I'll stay with. Hope these lessons are updated.
Dolores, yes we are continuing to add new lessons. In fact, we just added one of my favorite new lessons, Water: Math Lesson where you can learn how to interprate data in charts and graphs, calculate percentages, and measure volume.

This site is so helpful! Even though I only joined like roughly an hour ago, I've learned so much! I will always depend on TV411 for all my finance, math, science, reading, writing, etc. help/questions! Keep up the great work!!!
Frank, I hear you, everytime I end up watching our science videos I start to get hungry. I'm lucky that our Jamika Pessoa's recipes are all healthy or else I'd be gaining lots of weight because of it :). What video did you watch?

Dolores, if the video is getting choppy it might have to do with your connection or the speed of your computer. You might want to try restarting your computer to see if that frees up some memory and makes things run faster. You might also want to try letting the video load completely before playing it. Hope that helps.
We just got a preview of the new GED test that will be coming out in 2014. If you think you'll be taking that test, you should pay attention to the different kinds of questions we have like the ones where you have to drag and drop the answers. Those will be on the new test so they're important to be familiar with.
Rafiq, great to hear that you're gearing up for your GED. Any tips for other people studying for their GED? Are you working by yourself or in a program?
You have to be signed in to save your writing. If you're signed in, you should be able to hit the "Save Writing" button at the bottom of the page and that will save your biography. You can access whatever writing you've saved by clicking the "My TV411" button in the top of the browser and then going to your "Saved Writing" tab. If you still have trouble finding it, you can email me at ngoodman@edc.org.

Even though I am having some technical difficulty; this is the beginning of a wonderful experience. As things begin to run much smoothly in my academic achievements, I see myself being an all around success.

The videos want play.They buff,then nothing happens.
King Melchizedek, hmm....that's no good. Do you have another browser you could try watching them in?
Not at this time. I am at the library. I will be using their computers for a while. So it is somewhat of a headache to do lesson plans. Please bare with me until I get my computer fixed or purchase another. My hard drive crashed.
Most of the computers are older and some may need updating and upgrading. The responses from the librerian is usually they have a lot of problems. Sometimes they able to get through the problem and sometimes not.
If you haven't already tried it, you can always reboot the computer and see if that helps. Otherwise, you might want to just focus for now on completing web lessons rather than watching videos.
